Salmon roeA restaurant in Japan is fining customers who leave any food after their meal.

The seafood restaurant states on its menu that customers who leave any part of their signature dish will be fined a surcharge. This will be donated to the fisherman who make the meal possible.

The menu of The Hachikyo states: "The working conditions for fishermen are harsh and so dangerous that it's not unknown for lives to be lost.

"To show our gratitude and appreciation for the food they provide, it is forbidden to leave even one grain of rice in your bowl.

"Customers who do not finish their tsukko meshi must give a donation."

The tsukko meshi - a bowl of rice topped with all-you-can-eat salmon roe - costs 1,890 yen (£18 / $20).

It was also reported by RocketNews24, that the owner of the restaurant send his staff to do training on a fishing boat so they appreciate the conditions of the fishermen.
