TV presenter faints during programme about oxygen

THE TELEGRAPH (UK) [28/02/13]

A children's TV host in Croatia was discussing the importance of oxygen on Earth when she passed out during a live broadcast.

Croatian TV host Zlata Muck fainted during the live broadcast of educational children's programme Školski Sat (School Hour) on national television channel HTV on Tuesday.

By coincidence, the day's show was about oxygen and the presenter passed out while trying to say people could not live without it.

”Good morning and welcome to School Hour,” Ms Muck says to her young viewers. “Today, the first 35 minutes of our show will be dedicated to one of the most important elements on Earth: oxygen. Without it there…”

Apparently unable to finish her sentence, Ms Muck's voice trailed off as she staggered backwards before losing consciousness and hitting her head on the set.

As producers rushed to her aid the show cut to an archive programme. She later managed to recover enough to resume presenting and closed the show joking: "Well, now we all saw what happens when you don't get enough oxygen".

According to local media, Ms Muck is three months pregnant. She was reportedly taken to hospital as a precaution.

The show was later re-broadcast without Ms Muck's fainting episode but the incident was posted on YouTube and has become a viral hit.

The Croatian presenter is the second TV host to faint on air in recent days. Australian TV weatherman Grant Denyer passed out last week while reporting on what it is like to experience intense acceleration.
