Governor Adams Oshiomhole appoints Ihonvbere SSG, Patrick Obahiagbon Chief of Staff

Governor Adams Oshiomhole of Edo State, Wednesday, made key appointments a day after he was sworn in for a second term in office..

In the appointments, announced in Benin this evening, a former presidential aide, Prof. Julius Ihonvbere was appointed the secretary to the state government while a former member of the House of Representatives, Patrick Obahiagbon, was named chief of staff.

Mr. Ihonvbere Simon Imuekemhe while Mr. Obahiagbon is taking over from Osarodion Ogie.

Stephen Idehenre who was named the new Deputy Chief of Staff, Governor’s Office, replaces  John Odigie Ejale.

Peter Okhiria will continue in his old role as Chief Press Secretary just like Theresa Erediauwa who was retained as the focal person and Executive Director of Millennium Development Goals (MDGs).

Yakubu Aliyu is the governor’s new Principal Private Secretary, replacing Olaitan Oyerinde, who was murdered early this year.

The statement says Godwin Obaseki remains the Chairman of the Economic Team, while the former Chief of Staff, Osarodion Ogie, is now the Vice Chairman of the Economic Team.

Born in June 1956, Mr. honvbere holds a PhD in Political Economy from the University of Toronto. A Professor of Political Science, the SSG-designate was former Special Adviser on Policy Monitoring as well as Speech Writer to former President Olusegun Obasanjo. He holds the national honour of Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON).

The government statement says the new appointees would be sworn in at 10.a.m. Thursday at the Festival Hall, Government House, Benin City.
