Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State has in Owerri said that the present administration is ready for the full commencement of free tertiary education in the three high institutions of the state.
He said this at the Heroes Square Concord avenue, Owerri, at the official launch of the free tertiary education programme in the state.
Okorocha said that the free education programme which would cost the state N1.7 billion is commencing with issuance of cheques to over 19,000 students of Imo State origin from the three tertiary institutions in the state.
He said that N100,000 would be given to students from the Imo State University while N80,000 and N60,000 would go to each student from Imo State Polytechnic, Umuagwo and Imo State College of Health Science and Technology, Amigbo, respectively.
